Following on from the Interiors series of 2019, Returning explores the links between mind and body consciousness, and how this affects the way we interact with the world at large. Have we become adrift in a solitary web, slowly becoming strangers to ourselves? Focusing on the optimization of our minds but disregarding our bodies? Now is the time to reconcile our inner and outer realities and return to our bodies to become the whole thinking flesh that we in fact are.
The minimal approach that was explored across the Interiors series is expanded to include a new percussive element in the Tape Loop Orchestra’s arsenal, adding a sense of movement throughout both albums in the series. Musique concrete sound beds are built upon with extended notes from distant choirs, imbuing the work with a sense of reverence for the invisible duality that exists between our inner and outer consciousness.
